Lincoln Village Community Meeting
Lincoln Elementary School
6:30pm, 01/27/2005
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, February 24TH at 6:30pm
Meetings will be held the last Thursday of every month at 6:30pm at Lincoln Elementary.
MEETING MINUTES
This was the 2nd Lincoln Village Community meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to share information about the services that the city provides to residents. CRO Hollingsworth conducted the meeting.
Information Sheets
The officers passed out 3 information sheets to attendees:
“North Precinct’s Information Sheet”
This sheet listed important phone numbers and e-mail addresses for our precinct. The officers encouraged residents to call the numbers to report any non-emergency concerns. This could include traffic issues, abandoned house problems, unlicensed business activity, suspected drug deals, etc.
CRO Hollingsworth has an answering machine on his line (746-4104). Messages can be left 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Messages can be anonymous – you only have to leave your name and number if you want to be called back!
If you have been a victim of a crime and want a police report filed, you can have a report taken by phone (427-7114). A police officer will answer this line and take a report that is identical to the report that an officer in a patrol car would take. Doing it this way leaves the patrol cars free to respond to emergencies.
“Numbers You Should Know”
This sheet lists the city services (with phone numbers) that are not police business, but are important to residents. Departments included are Sanitation, Health, Inspection, Community Development, Fire Department and Animal Control.
“Blue Bin – BFI Recycle This”
This sheet gave details on the recycling program.
Introduction of Officers
The officers introduced themselves and stressed the importance of involvement. It is up to us (the residents) to tell them what is wrong and what we feel is important to address.
What’s Next
The officers will be focusing on 3 areas of improvement starting soon:
1. Speed Zones – slow down traffic in school zones and residential areas
2. Abandoned Houses – clean up empty houses being used by non-residents
3. Abandoned Cars – impound any car that is inoperable, has an expired tag (or no tag)
